This morning my Apple Watch credits me 6 minutes of exercise for my 30 minute workout.
I mean, ok. Maybe I wasn’t going 100% every single minute.
But only 6 minutes out of 30?!?!?!
It’s clear that my watch and I have very different definitions of “exercise.”
And it gets me thinking about your Elevator Pitch.
Because many people have an expectation that their Elevator Pitch should work close to 100% of the time.
But it doesn’t.
Done well, your Elevator Pitch is as much about scaring off the wrong people as it is about engaging the right ones.
Much like with exercise, you won’t see the results today.
It takes time to develop the relationships that lead to leads.
So how do you know if you’re on the right track?
Here’s how the Elevator Pitch works:
- You say some words
- Other people say words back to you
Then you are in a conversation!
HINT: If you’re not happy with the conversations you’re starting, then it’s time to change the words you’re saying.
When you’re starting good conversations, you’re on the right track.
Because that’s how you get to know people.
Multiple conversations – over time.
The Elevator Pitch starts that process.
How many conversations did you start this week?
