Unleash your Powers of Networking with Opportunity Spotting

“Someone already gave me that idea, but I didn’t know how to get started.”

I was meeting with a woman who writes operations manuals for the highly regulated insurance and mortgage industries.

She creates processes that succeed consistently every time (think new hires signing up for insurance coverage), but wants to find new challenges using these skills.

We brainstormed ideas, but didn’t come up with anything concrete until I was in the middle of my next networking call.

Franchises! That was the revelation. Franchises are heavily regulated in many ways, but not on the operational side. I floated the idea to my contact on the call, who eagerly expressed interest in meeting her.

When I reached back out to her, she admitted that she had had the idea of writing franchise operations manuals, but hadn’t known who to talk to or where to start.

And it gets me thinking about your Elevator Pitch.

Because when you meet a bunch of interesting people, you can become a catalyst offering pivotal connections that propel careers and business forward.

Networking isn’t merely about accumulating contacts; it’s about knowing who to call when faced with an unexpected and promising opportunity.

So, who do you turn to when you find yourself unsure of next steps?

Are you that person?

I connected my client to two people that week, one of whom writes operations manuals and is ready to outsource the work.

Who do you reach out to when you’re not sure who to talk to next?
